Our Wines
At Snows Lake Vineyard, we take great pride in our growing list of prestigious winery clients that are producing superior wines recognized by wine critics and consumers alike. The high quality and success of these wine products created a desire for us to explore our own vision of the vineyard and its remarkable mountain fruit.
The same passionate drive for quality and attention-to-detail in our wine-growing is evident in our wines. Working with a wonderful winemaking team, we coddle the grapes through fermentation in small lots and then age the wine in 100% French Oak barrels, including one-third new French Oak barrels, for up to 18 months. After bottling, the wines are further aged in the warehouse for 6-10 months to ensure the wines are just right before they are released.
The result is wine that demonstrates the exquisite quality of the vineyard in a style that appeals to the luxury segment: wines that have considerable attitude, panache and demonstrable value. As described by a noted industry wine writer, “It has all the characteristics of a wine that will age beautifully for a decade or more…It has that big tannic structure woven through with sweet oak and spice that ages so well….A rich opulent Cab...”
We proudly offer two distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon based wines (as reviewed by wine and food critic, Narsai David):
Snows Lake ONE, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon: “Lovely richness on the palate. The fruit is forward and there is plenty of tannin behind it for balance. Flavors linger long. Here's a delicious wine that you could already enjoy because of the softness of the tannins.”
Snows Lake TWO, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc: “Deep concentrated red color. Some blackberry and woodsy aromas intermingle for a very pleasing touch. Rich and luscious on the palate. The fruitiness is particularly appealing and the flavors just ring and linger with pleasure on the palate.”
Both of these wines have received enthusiastic and stellar endorsements from distinguished wine critics like Anthony Dias Blue, Dan Berger and others. Both wines have also been consistently recognized for their quality in prestigious International Wine Competitions: receiving numerous medals including the only Grand Gold awarded to a wine from the USA at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, a Double Gold in the San Francisco International Wine Competition and a Best in Class in the Pacific Rim International Wine Competition. And, in a blind tasting conducted by Lake County Growers and Winemakers, Snows Lake was recognized as the best Cabernet Sauvignon of Lake County.
